Bought a Maison SG way back in the mid 90's. Still use her regularly. Have never seen a serial number though, and I have looked. I love this guitar. The body is balanced, not neck heavy like some SG's I've played. The fret board allows for some smooth playing. I always loved the tone I got. What year is the model of your guitar? Ever wanted to know but aren’t quite sure. Well, it’s quite easy to determine using the serial number on your Martin guitar.

I have a maison 5 string bass which I have used for 30 months. I bought as a used instrument and it served me well until a month ago when it just simply failed to work. I had it checked and I was told the pick ups have melted ~ very strange. Worse, I tried to get info from maison and the best I have so far is this posting. If you have another option please disregard the appeals of maison and go for an alternative. Look for a well known brand that you can easily get customer support from. By the way, my guitar failed on the stage just before I was to perform.

However, from google searches, all I turn up is this Korean brand that disappeared mysteriously at some point of time and that no one knows the origin. These are the photos provided, the logo looks different from the Michigan Maison so I suspect it's the Korean one.

On Martin Guitars the serial number is usually located on the heel of the neck inside the soundhole. So you’ll need to look through the soundhole towards the neck. This may be hard to read so you may need to shine a light in there (flashlight, smartphone etc). There will usually be 2 numbers in there. The first number (the top number) will be the model number. If the stamped number consists 5 digits, there is a space between the first and second digit (a separation between the last digit of the year and the actual serial number). When a six-digit serial number is concerned, there is no space, because the highest number in four digits (9999) has been exceeded and so fills the space. This was the case in the years 1955, 1956, 1959 and 1960. In 1955, Gibson forgot to put back the serial number range to 0001. So they had just put the year from 4 to 5. For this reason, the array of four-digit serial number was exceeded after 9999. Thence 5 digits and no space between the year (5) and the serial number.

The number is above 230095 so it was built after 1967 but it’s less than 241925 so it was built before the end of 1968 – so it was built in 1968. This guy Mark Holyer from WM guitars(wmguitars.com) sold me a guitar online. I received the guitar in bubble wrap and it was very poorly packaged.

The only fault I would mention is that the electronics on the Maison have decided to pretty much die on me in the last year. That being said, they have lasted at least 15 years without any issues (I'm now looking at putting a pair of EMGs in there and replacing all the wiring, volume & tone controls and pickup selector, a total overhaul basically). Completely enjoy playing this guitar and hope to keep playing for many years to come.
