While you do end up getting 40mm drivers here, overall I didn’t find that to be a problem at all. What’s interesting here is that Plantronics choice to include proprietary Dolby technologies for their virtual surround sound solution. For those familiar with the gaming headset industry, the name that typically pops up is Creative with their THX backed TruStudio Pro surround sound technology, so having a new player – especially one with a name like Dolby is interesting to say the least. Taking a look at the specifications here, the only thing that really jumps out at me is the 40mm drivers. Typically, 40mm drivers have a weaker bass response than 50mm drivers. Now that being said, audio quality does depend on both the quality of the driver as well as the size.
Pros: I bought one. Then 2 more (one for parents' place, office, home) because it's so comfortable. I can wear them all day and they're fine. Surround sound is nice as well. Cons: it's an 'open-ear' headset, so it's designed so that some noise from your environment comes in. This is great for LAN parties when you want to hear your teammates cheering.

Unfortunately the volume level can only be adjusted in pre-defined steps with each flick of the rocker – although we could always fine-tune the level suitably. The budget-minded headset has great compatibility and sound that rivals its more expensive counterparts, but unfortunately fails to live up to Plantronics’ namesake with a middling microphone. There’s a lot to like about this in spite of a few flaws. We found it especially handy for spatial awareness in first person shooters like Call of Duty: Two pairs also give you plnatronics access to professional workouts.
While headsets might not be the most exciting piece of hardware to shop for, being able to accurately hear where guns shots of your opponents are coming from is invaluable in shooters like Modern Warfare and Counter Strike. With those gamers in mind, accessories manufacturer Plantronics has released the GameCom 777 7.1 surround headset for the PC and Mac. Though it's marketed as a 7.1 headset, in truth, it's a simple stereo affair, with the surround magic taking place in an included USB dongle. Can mere trickery replicate the feel of a true 7.1 system? We've been giving the headset a thoroughly good ears-on to find out.

Went to a buddy's house and tried his Vista computer, didn't work. Went to a brother's house on his XP computer and it works. Don't use or buy if with a Vista computer. They have NO drivers for this operating system.
Unfortunately (or fortunately seeing as it prompted me to get a wicked fahst SSD) my Hard drive died and I had to clean install to a new SSD. When I now try to reinstall the surround sound drivers I keep getting the message 'The wizard was interrupted before Plantronics Gamecom 780/788 Software for Dolby Headphone could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified'. This is a shot in the dark but I was wondering if anybody here had any idea why this might be happening?
This means that the headphones can be adjusted to fit almost any size of head perfectly and with its soft ear pads, it should fit around your ears comfortably. What’s more is that you can swivel the ear cups backwards so that the headphones can be tucked away safely in a backpack or lay quietly on top of a desk. You can also pivot them up and down by a few degrees when you wear them.
I put off the headset while watching The Place Promised in Our Early Days (Blu-ray, 5.1 track) for one moment just to make sure that there wasn't anyone talking in my room, because the Dolby Surround really tricked me into thinking that there was someone in my room. The fight between Saber and Kuzuki in Fate/Stay Night 2014 is s imply amazing, all the kicks and the sword slash is presented very well and sounds very pleasing. Drivers: First, don't even think of using this headset without installing proper drivers. Without drivers, the sound is very hollow and the Mic is basicallly useless. The driver works well with both Windows 7 and 8 (Windows 10 needs to use the windows 7 drivers from the Release 4, anything from Release 5 won't work). There's a the gaming/movie mode or music mode but honestly there isn't any differences between these two (there's difference when you set the headphone to stereo mode in windows settings, the music mode is louder and clearer than the movie mode, but who bought a 7.1 headset just to set it to use stereo mode?). Overall: 7.5/10 I would have recommend this headset to anyone if the build quality wasn't that bad. If you're someone who takes care of your stuff carefully, I would recommend this to you.

It's annoying when people are doing other things in your vicinity. Other Thoughts: It *does* work with W10, you just have to manually install the W8.1 drivers (download from website). Pros: - Great sound especially when you figure out how to set up 7.1 - Microphone works great on both pc and ps4.

Highs and mids were great as well, but at the very high end the highs do get a tad bit distorted, but you’d really have to be listening carefully to notice. One thing I was a bit worried about with simulated surround sound technologies is that sometimes poorly implemented technologies will make perfectly good sounding music sound bad by adding echos and extra sounds that don’t actually exist. However, this was not an issue and it seems like Dolby has done a fine job with their Dolby 3D Technology. It’s still recommended that you turn this feature off when listening to music though since the technology will work differently with every song.
The midrange is perhaps a little muddy, but still exceptionally good. Highs are clear and pleasant. Overall, the sound is slightly on the warm side, imparting a delightful tonal quality to your listening experience. It is a little tight and difficult to keep fitted correctly around the headband, but the sound isolation is flawless. The microphone is also exceptional. Vocals have a beautiful clarity to them, with no muffling or interference. The amount of background noise picked up is also minimal, ensuring your voice comes through loud and clear.
It was able to pickup the movie’s 5.1 audio track and convert that into the headphone’s 2.0 track while still maintaining an acceptable level of accurate positional audio. Test 2: The Music Test Music sounded quite good on the 780 as well. I ended up listening to quite a variety of genres of music ranging from Canon Rock by Jerry C to The Beatles, and even some Skrillex for good measure. As expected, bass response here again was good, only bottoming out at very low end when playing bass heavy genres like hip hop with the bass turned up way too high. Otherwise, the bass is excellent and the audio clarity is top notch for a gaming headset. Highs and mids were great as well, but at the very high end the highs do get a tad bit distorted, but you’d really have to be listening carefully to notice.
The Gamecom looks like quite a bulky headset but is deceptively light. Touch screen visibility and operation was great and easy to navigate. The new headset is less bulky and a bit lighter than the but the earpieces also feel warmer and put more pressure around our ears, which can be uncomfortable. At the front a glowing blue button toggles the Dolby enhancements, while the rear houses a volume rocker and microphone mute switch.
Test 3: The Gaming Test Running around with guns blazing in Battlefield 3, this headset prformed phenomenally. The Virtual 7.1 surround sound worked very well and it accurately relayed my enemies position to me through sounds such as gunfires, footsteps, and dialogue.

Hopefully this is kind of sound isolating cloth material is something Plantronics will look into integrating for a future headset.

Exactly in the spot where you would pull them apart to place them on your head. That's where you want them to be their strongest, not weakest. So here I am, a year later, with a broken headset. Other Thoughts: You can get better headsets for $40, you can get MASSIVELY better headsets for $70.

Are you connecting both mics into the same USB hub? Both in the front panel USB ports or both into the rear USB ports? If they are both being plugged into the same USB hub, power could be a factor. Both mics require +5VDC to operate, and both plugged in may be drawing more power than the USB ports can provide. If you are plugging into the front, try plugging the Anuna into a rear port.
